INTERIM PASTOR
Sage Hills EFC (Ashcroft, BC)

The Town:  We are slowly becoming a retirement town with the warm summers and mild winters.  Population:  1400 approx. plus Cache Creek (6 miles away) 1100 approx.   Distances: to Kamloops 1 hr; to Kelowna 2 1/2 hours; to Vancouver 4 hr.


The Church:  Evangelical Free denomination but a mix of Bible believing folks from Baptist, Alliance, Brethren, etc. persuasions.  This is the only Bible believing church in Ashcroft although there is a Pentecostal church in Cache Creek.  The church is still grieving over the loss of our recent pastor.  He was admired and loved.  Attendance is about 40 -50.  At present we do not have a Sunday School as two families totaling 10 children moved and another family moved on for a larger church.  We have an evening service held in homes.  We have 2 - 3 Bible studies each week, all run by church members.  We have a children’s club (12 – 20) held in the school and run by church adults with the assistance of Faith Mission of Canada.

 

The role of Interim Pastor:  There are a few qualifications that we are particular about as listed.  

  • Age is probably not a factor.
  • A conservative, Biblical, non Charismatic, stand is a must.
  • Needs to be a Pastor/Teacher, not just a preacher.  We expect sound Biblical, verse by verse,  teaching.
  • He must be separated from the world but able to walk in the world.
  • He would not be expected to fulfill the total role of our pastor but to do his best with the experience that he has.

As a church we would look at this position as a time for a young man to get some Pastoral experience for later.  The two church elders and one of the deacons have been pastors with two of them having also been in Missionary work in Canada.  So the church leadership will be very supportive and will be a resource for the interim outside of the interim's regular duties.

 

Living arrangements:  Single bedroom apartments rent for about $500 - 600/month. 

 

Salary and Term of Position:  Salary will be negotiable for the position.  The term would likely be 4 - 6 months and could last from 6 -18 months.  We want to be an encouragement and a place of growth for the interim.  We will actively start looking for a pastor in Feb/Mar of 2010.
