Job Description:
The primary emphasis of the Associate Pastor’s ministry is to be in the areas of Junior Youth, Senior Youth, and College and Career ministry.
The Purpose of the Christian Fellowship Church Youth Ministry is to provide for appropriate teaching and counselling, together with a variety of activities which will enable youth to experience salvation, become true disciples of Christ, develop emotional stability and realize healthy social interaction with all age groups.
Character traits and qualifications:
- As a role model his personal life and family life and work in the church must reflect Biblical values, as must his testimony in the community.
- The ability to work on a team.
- The ability to teach the Bible effectively to youth.
- The ability to provide wise counsel in real life situations.
- Experience and training in Youth Ministry.
Structures of Accountability:
- The Associate Pastor is accountable to the Church Board for the overall direction that is given to the Youth Ministry. He is to submit a monthly report of activities and expenditures. Attendance at Church Board meetings is required.
- The Associate Pastor is responsible to maintain a balance between giving leadership to the adult sponsor teams and working with the adult sponsor teams as a member of the overall youth ministry team.
Ministry Resources:
- The most important resource in ministry is the people involved in the lives of the youth. Adult sponsor teams are required for both the Junior and Senior Youth groups.
- A yearly budget for Junior Youth and Senior Youth week to week programming is provided by the church.
- A Pastor’s expense account is available to remunerate personal ministry expenses such as one on one meetings with youth. A pastor’s mileage is also paid at a rate determined each year.
- The Associate Pastor’s monthly salary is negotiated upon being hired and, after that, is reviewed annually before the Annual Church Budget is passed.
Youth Ministry Programming Expectations:
We recognize that each Associate Pastor is an individual and has specific gifts and abilities which will in time mold and shape the Youth Ministry at Christian Fellowship Church. We ask him to be aware of the following expectations which are presently in place.
- Meet with the Senior Pastor weekly for encouragement and accountability.
- Manage time well giving adequate time for prayer, study, planning and preparation.
- Be involved in the total church program as much as possible.
- Coordinate youth events with the church calendar, keeping in mind that other groups use the facility as well.
- Clean up after youth events so that the facility is ready for others to use as well.
- Give overall leadership to the Senior and Junior Youth Programs.
- Develop and maintain sponsor teams, and maintain open communications with these teams, to work with both our Senior and Junior Youth Ministries.
- Include the youth in the detailed planning and execution of actual youth events so that they can grow in their areas of giftedness (Youth Executive, planning teams, etc.)
- Make long-range plans together with the adult sponsor teams ensuring a balance of activities, Bible learning and application through ministry and service to others.
- Develop a relationship with parents of youth cooperating with them, and providing a network of support to and from them. This will include regular updates of youth ministry activities and contact with each youth home.
- Be available to teach Sunday School if time permits.
- Be available to meet privately with young people as need and opportunity arises.
Community Expectations:
- Be involved in the community.
- Build a good rapport and testimony with members of the community.
- Utilize opportunities to be involved in the local school and community.
FEBC Expectations:
- Be involved with Fellowship of Evangelical Bible Churches.
- Learn to know the FEBC as a group of churches.
- Encourage the youth of our church to be involved in the Annual FEBC Youth Convention.
College and Career Programming Expectations:
- Give overall leadership to the College and Career Program and its leaders.
Church Family Ministry Expectations:
- Be visible in the congregation by preaching, leading services, and greeting or mingling with people after services.
- Be sensitive to the needs of those attending our church.
