Grande Prairie Care Centre

Sunday Church Service Resident Volunteers & Porters

Volunteer Job Description

Every Sunday around 3:00 we begin to bring residents into the recreation room on the 1st floor for the church service that begins around 4:00. We have many residents that would like to attend, and depending on the number of volunteers, we can accommodate many of our residents and family members. The service ends at 4:45, and we need to promptly get everyone back to their courts for supper that begins at 5:00.

Volunteers can help with room set up, resident portering (pushing wheelchairs), handing out books, turning pages in books, room clean up, chatting with residents, singing hymns, etc.

It is very important that all volunteers will have excellent hand hygiene upon entering the facility, diligent in health screening and will wear their mask correctly the entire visit (covering mouth and nose) - this is especially important if volunteers are not vaccinated, as our population is highly vulnerable.

A volunteer photo ID will be provided to wear each week.

The volunteers will work closely with 2 Recreation Therapy Aides each Sunday and a core group of family volunteers.

Dates & Times

Every Sunday at 3pm (unless otherwise specified)
